We will be posting articles of interest on a regular basis, so please check in frequently.  Pediatric dentistry expands far beyond diagnosing a dental problem and treating a tooth. The dental experience of a young child can determine their outlook on dentistry and taking care of their teeth for their lifetime. Therefore, when we make a dental diagnosis, the child’s age, personality and attitude towards medical and dental experiences all influence our recommendations regarding how to approach treatment.  Our office does not practice procedures rooted in child intimidation. Such practices include parent separation, use of papoose boards and negative verbal manipulation. Although an intimidated child may be a compliant patient, the long term needs to establish a confident and trusting relationship can too easily be compromised.

Dr. Yurfest is known for his expertise in treating adults as well as children. He was a founding member of the Lingual Society (braces behind the teeth) as well as one of the first offices to offer clear braces. His reputation for the most up-to-date treatment continues today, with his award for the top Invisalign Practice.  In 1985, he taught at the prestigious Medical College of Georgia in the department of Orthodontics. In 1989 he helped open the first children’s dental center in Morocco. He became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 1990. Today, Dr. Yurfest continues teaching, writing and working with children as the Director of Orthodontics at the Ben Massell Dental Clinic in Atlanta as well as working in his private practice on West Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta.
